Parents of Gifted Students in Piedmont, CA

What is Piedmont G.P.S?

Piedmont G.P.S. (Gifted Parent Support) is a parent group with the goal of helping educate and advocate for the needs of gifted/high-ability and twice-exceptional students in Piedmont, CA.

What is gifted? We use the term to describe when a person thinks and behaves in ways that are advanced and different when compared to same age peers.  The National Association for Gifted Children (www.nagc.org) defines a gifted person as someone who shows, or has the potential for showing, an exceptional level of performance in one or more of the following areas:

  1. General intellectual ability

  2. Specific academic aptitude

  3. Creative thinking

  4. Leadership ability

  5. Visual or performing arts

Twice-exceptional is defined as a gifted person with some form of a learning disability, behavioral problem, or any of a variety of other challenges.

Piedmont G.P.S supports parents, teachers and administrators on ways to meet the unique and special needs of the gifted.
